The martyrs in the surroundings of Cassino

THE NATIONS THAT PARTICIPATED IN THE BATTLE OF CASSINO

An official list of the nations that participated in the Battle of Cassino has never been made. Today this task would be even more difficult for the numerous geo-political changes occurred all over the world. In December 1993 the Veterans of Montecassino Association has been kindly requested to carry out a brief research on the argument. The president Roy Quintino answered: “As per your request, here it is the list of the nations that participated in the battle of Cassino:

UNITED STATES – GERMANY – POLAND – GREAT BRITAIN – FRANCE-ITALY - NEW ZEALAND – CANADA – SOUTH AFRICA – INDIA – CEYLON – BATUSOLAND – SWAZILAND – BECHUANALAND – SEYCHELLES – MAURITIUS - RODRIGUEZ ISLANDS - WEST INDIES – CYPRUS NEPAL BELGIUM GREECE BRASIL SYRIA-LEBANON – YUGOSLAVIA - BRITISH MANDATED TERRITORY OF PALESTINA ( Hebrews)

The problem is that the political map has much changed since then. Instead of Jugoslavia, for instance, there are to be found Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia; instead of Jugoslavia, for instance, Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia; and instead of British Palestina today is to be found the State of Israel. With regard to the African tribes (Basutoland, Swaziland, Bechuanaland) I think that will do to replace them with the modern nations: Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabue, Tanzania etc.”
